Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the performance benefit of coilovers vs lowering springs?
Coilovers offer far superior performance compared to lowering springs by giving you full control over ride height, damping, and handling. Unlike lowering springs, which offer a fixed drop and limited improvement, coilovers let you fine tune your setup for daily driving or track use. They improve cornering, balance, and grip while reducing body roll all with better long term durability. If you’re serious about performance and adjustability, coilovers are the better choice.
What is a custom kit?
A custom kit is a suspension setup tailored specifically to your individual driving needs. Whether you’re after a more comfortable ride for daily use or a stiffer, more aggressive setup for serious track performance, this kit is built just for you. At H. Drive Motorsport, we offer custom spring rates, and damping to match your exact requirements giving you a truly personalized driving experience.
What spring rates should I order?
We recommend starting with our standard spring rates, as they are carefully balanced for a wide range of driving styles. Custom spring rates should only be chosen if you need adjustments for specific reasons such as unique track conditions, additional supporting modifications, or an aggressive wheel setup where stiffer rates can help reduce rubbing.
How can I register my warranty?
You can register your warranty directly on our website by filling out the warranty registration form. Simply visit the H. Drive Motorsport UK website, navigate to the warranty section, and complete the form to activate your coverage.
What’s the highest spring rate I can get?
The maximum spring rate available depends on your specific vehicle and setup. For the most accurate recommendation, please contact us directly either by phone at +44 7538 891 210 or email at info@hdrive-motorsport.co.uk. Our team will be happy to help you find the best option for your needs.
What is the ride stiffness compared to OEM?
H. Drive’s recommended spring rate kits are designed to deliver a sportier, more responsive ride compared to factory suspension. Our coilovers typically use 15 to 20% stiffer springs and 15 to 30% firmer damper valving than OEM setups. This increased stiffness supports improved handling, reduced body roll, and enhanced stability especially when cornering or driving at higher speeds.
How long does it take to build a custom kit?
The lead time for a custom H. Drive Motorsport kit is around 2 to 4 weeks. If you have specific requirements or a deadline, feel free to contact us and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.
Should I get an alignment after installing the coilovers?
Yes, we strongly recommend getting a professional wheel alignment after installing coilovers. Adjusting your suspension changes your car’s ride height and geometry, which can affect camber, toe, and caster settings. Proper alignment ensures optimal handling, tire wear, and safety, helping you get the best performance and longevity from your new setup.
Do H. Drive Motorsport coilovers come with a preset ride height out of the box?
Yes, H. Drive coilover kits are delivered with a moderate, well balanced ride height and damping setting designed for everyday driving and spirited performance. This preset gives you a solid starting point, but all adjustments including ride height, damping, and preload can be easily customized to fit your personal preferences and driving needs.
Are H. Drive Motorsport coilovers suitable for track use?
H. Drive coilovers are engineered with track performance in mind. Our recommended kits offer a balanced setup ideal for both street driving and track days. For more demanding track use, we can customise your coilovers to deliver the stiffness and responsiveness you need.
How long does shipping take once they leave the factory?
Shipping times depend on the availability of the coilovers if out of stock. There will be options for you to select at checkout. Sea freight is included free of charge with your purchase but typically takes 4 to 5 weeks. Air freight is available at an additional cost and typically arrives within 5 to 7 days. In stock kits usually ship within 24 hours. Please be aware that customs or carrier delays are outside of our control, but if your order takes longer than expected, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to assist you.
