The H. Drive R Spec coilovers are engineered for the track enthusiast, delivering unmatched precision and performance for Japanese vehicles. Featuring a two way monotube design with independent bump and rebound adjustment, these coilovers offer precise fine tuning for any track condition. Built for maximum stability and control, the R Spec is the perfect choice for those pushing the limits of their vehicle’s capabilities.

  • Supplied Spring Rates may differ from advertised
  • Please note that not all vehicles use camber plates in the front and/or rear. Some vehicles reuse OEM upper mounts.
  • The vehicle ride height can be lowered 25mm to 95mm
  • The H. Drive coilovers feature a high performance monotube damping system. Due to its enlarged valve and integration of gas and oil within a single chamber, a slight noise may occur when driving slowly over rough terrain, indicating normal damper operation.

Reservoir Shock

The H. Drive R Spec coilovers incorporate an external reservoir, which is designed to improve both damping consistency and heat dissipation. In high performance settings like track days, the suspension is subjected to extreme forces that can generate heat and reduce the damping performance. The external reservoir increases the coilover’s oil capacity, providing additional space for the damper oil to expand as it heats up. This larger volume allows for better heat dissipation, preventing the oil from overheating and maintaining stable damping performance. Additionally, the reservoir offers separate nitrogen and oil chambers, which helps minimize aeration (formation of air bubbles in the oil) that could have an affect on the damping force consistency.

Independent Bump and Rebound Adjustability

The R Spec coilovers feature 30 levels of independently adjustable bump and rebound damping. This two way monotube design allows drivers to fine tune both the bump and rebound characteristics, providing a tailored setup for various driving demands, whether for smooth roads, spirited driving, or intense track use. By customizing the rebound and bump settings, drivers achieve optimal control, enhanced connection to the road, and superior handling consistency even on poor surfaces.

Ride Height Adjustability

For the H. Drive R Spec coilovers, the ride height adjustment is controlled by the position of the coilover’s bottom mount, which can be moved up or down along the damper body. This innovative design offers a broad range of height adjustments without altering the spring’s preload. Since the ride height is set by the adjustable bottom mount, rather than the spring platform, the S Spec coilovers retain full damper travel across all height settings. This means that regardless of the ride height chosen, you can maintain optimal damper travel for a smoother, more controlled ride, especially beneficial for both street and track applications.

Camber Adjustability

On models that support camber adjustments, R Spec coilovers are equipped with camber adjustable aluminum pillowball top mounts. These mounts enable drivers to fine tune the camber angle, providing flexibility for various setups from daily commuting to precise track alignment. This adjustability enhances cornering grip and control, optimizing vehicle alignment for different driving conditions.

Large 50mm Piston

Engineered with a 50mm piston in certain models, the R Spec coilovers maximize shock absorption through increased fluid capacity. The larger piston surface area enhances the coilover damping efficiency, improving handling under high loads and during intense driving scenarios. This design minimizes heat buildup, helping to prevent performance fade over time. The result is consistent, stable control and a smooth transition from street driving to track conditions.

Forged Aluminum Upper Mounts & Sheets

Select models of H. Drive R Spec coilovers come with aluminum upper mounts, reducing overall weight and enhancing suspension response. The aluminum components contribute to better handling and improved cornering performance. The high grade aluminum also resists environmental wear, supporting durability and extended lifespan. The forged aluminum sheets revolve around their strength, lightweight nature, heat dissipation properties, corrosion resistance, and the ability to customize the suspension system for optimal performance. This construction offers a superior strength to weight ratio, essential for maintaining control without compromising durability.

Corrosion Resistance

Engineered for resilience, R Spec coilovers are treated with a black anodized finish that resists corrosion and wear in all environments. Components receive powder coating for additional durability, extending the coilover’s lifespan against weather elements like moisture and road salt. This advanced coating ensures a polished, premium look and long lasting performance, even in harsh climates and challenging road conditions.

Coil Springs

Each R Spec coilover is built from top grade materials, the high strength spring is made of SAE9254 chrome silicon steel. Each vehicle is specifically adjusted in the respective suspension damper in its spring rate for long life; it is multi coated. These springs are tested for over 500,000 cycles with less than 5% deformation

Premium Quality Oil

The R Spec coilovers utilize specially formulated damper oil, optimized for consistent performance across various temperatures. This oil maintains its viscosity under high stress conditions, ensuring stable damping force and reliability in both daily use and high-demand track scenarios. The premium oil’s resistance to thermal breakdown contributes to extended damper life and dependable performance over time.

Nitrogen Pressurized Dampers

R Spec coilovers are nitrogen pressurized, minimizing oil aeration to maintain steady damping force during rapid damper movements. This pressurization prevents bubble formation, ensuring consistent damping and improved stability, especially under aggressive driving conditions. This feature supports durability and performance consistency for both street and motorsport applications.

Spring Rate

At H. Drive Motorsport, we understand the importance of spring rates in delivering the perfect balance of comfort and performance. Our R Spec coilovers are carefully tested and calibrated to provide optimal spring rates for both road and track use, ensuring that every drive is smooth yet responsive. Whether you’re commuting on the street or pushing the limits on the track, our springs are designed to handle it all. However, we also recognize that every enthusiast’s needs are unique. For those seeking a more aggressive setup, we offer the option to customize the spring rate, allowing you to tailor your suspension to your specific driving style and performance goals.
